Reddit Translator is a Chrome extension that translates posts and comments on www.reddit.com using Chrome's built-in, on-device language detection and translation APIs.
Data the extension handles
- Website content: visible text from Reddit posts and comments, only to provide the translation feature.
- Language preference: the target language you select, saved with Chrome's storage API.
The extension does not access Reddit passwords, authentication cookies, private messages, payment information, or unrelated browsing history.
How data is used
Reddit text is processed on your device by Chrome's built-in language models. It is not sent to the developer or to a third-party translation server. The extension does not use analytics, advertising trackers, or user profiling.
Storage and retention
- Your selected target language remains in Chrome storage until you change it or remove the extension.
- Generated translations are cached only in the current page session and are discarded when the page is refreshed or closed.
Sharing and sale
The developer does not receive, sell, rent, share, or transfer Reddit content or user information. No data is used for personalized advertising, credit decisions, or purposes unrelated to the extension's single translation function.
